This adopted an intelligence-led operation in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State on 26 October 2026, in line with Lieutenant Ahamdu Zubairu, Ag Media Information Officer, HQ JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE
According to the assertion, there was earlier intelligence data indicating that some felony parts posing as herders had crossed from Nasarawa State into Guma LGA.
“On arrival at the location, the troops came under gunfire from the armed group. The troops responded effectively, repelled the attack and forced the assailants to flee. No casualty was recorded among the troops,” The assertion mentioned
The troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, 4 empty AK-47 magazines, eight calves, three cellphones, a National Identification Number, NIN, doc belonging to 1 Mr Umar Yusuf, and the sum of ₦20.
The Force Commander, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE and General Officer Commanding 5 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Moses Kolo Gara, counseled the troops for his or her vigilance, proactive response and profitable restoration of the objects.
He charged the troops to strengthen collaboration with native communities and maintain intelligence-led operations to stop felony actions and improve safety throughout the Joint Operations Area.
